Steals add an interesting dynamic to The Voice as we've already seen on this season. Despite the judges's initial caution about when to use their precious lifeline, the big red buttons got pressed a lot last night. In fact, steals were being thrown around so much we need a quick refresher on what all went down so let's recap on whose Voice journey almost ended in the October 21 episode.
First up, 16-year-old student Juhi. Juhi’s unique sound and impressive runs gave battle partner George Horga Jr. a run for his money, and it didn't help that Cee Lo Green and Miguel were enthusiastic about the teen queen during rehearsals. Just when we thought George’s fate was sealed (especially in light of a majorly bum high note), Cee Lo deemed him the winner of the battle, but "JuJu," as Blake called her, wasn't on the market for long before judge Adam Levine snatched her up. "I think that we have work to do, but gosh, you're 16 and you're already so good," Adam said. "I just kinda won the lottery by grabbing you for my team."
Christina Aguilera's Destinee Quinn battled against Lina Gaudenzi, singing the high powered Dixie Chicks ballad "Not Ready to Make Nice". Interestingly, both Adam and Blake gave higher praise to Lina for having the best overall performance, but Xtina went against the grain. Having been impressed by the strides biker bar performer Destinee has made, Christina went out on a limb and chose her. Adam didn't hesitate to grab Lina for his ever-growing team.
Last up was Adam’s James Wolpert, who battled against Will Champlin by singing Imagine Dragons's mega-hit, "Radioactive". Blake Shelton and Cee Lo gave their stamp of approval to James who, despite overdoing the vibrato, impressed the judges. Christina preferred Will. Adam went with the guys and chose James. Will nearly walked offstage and out of our lives forever but, thankfully, in a moment of high reality TV drama, Xtina saved the hard-working singer.
The competition was fierce, hence the judges using saves all over the place. That leaves only one judge with a steal left to use on the October 22 episode: Cee Lo. He's the last man standing when it comes to saving one more singer for his team as these vocalists duke it out for a highly coveted spot in the knockout round.
