Caroline Pennell Sings “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson and Georgia Horga Jr. Sings “Because of You” by Ne-Yo
On October 29, Team Cee Lo Green singers Caroline Pennell and George Horga Jr. were paired to sing against one another on The Voice 2013 knockout rounds. Cee Lo paired the two as they are both youthful and have much promise. Caroline came out first, with her rendition of “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson. Caroline chose the song as it speaks to the indie pop artist that she wants to be… as well as being a bit of a theme song.
George followed close behind with his rendition of “Because of You” by Ne-Yo. The young artist chose the song as he would very much like to be a pop/soul artist like Ne-Yo and Bruno Mars.
Blake Shelton found that George was flat for the majority of his performance, but overcome it. Caroline, on the other hand, made Blake feel warm and tingly inside, which he enjoyed. Christina Aguilera thought that George a good job, but felt that Caroline drew her in with her “angelic” sound.
Cee Lo told George that he could definitely dominate the genre that he wants to pursue music in due to his charismatic appeal. Cee Lo found Caroline to be sweet and convincing. He was able to see the staying power she possessed, and chose Caroline over George.
