James Wolpert Sings “More Than a Feeling” by Boston and Juhi Sings “Heard It Through the Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye
On October 29, Team Adam Levine singers James Wolpert and Juhi were paired to sing against one another on The Voice 2013 knockout rounds. James came out first, with his rendition of “More Than a Feeling” by Boston. At rehearsals, Adam gave the singer a few hints in order to tackle the pretty difficult song. When James took the stage, he performed well, but not as good as he had in rehearsals.
Following James, Juhi took the stage with the Creedance Clearwater rendition of “Heard It Through the Grapevine” by the great Marvin Gaye. Adam advised the young talent to provide more vocals and less styling on that song, which she attempted to do once she hit the stage.
Christina Aguilera liked the carefree nature of Juhi’s song, but noted that “carefree turned into careless.” She also noted that both James and Juhi had pitch problems, but thought James did a better job. Cee Lo thought that James did a good job, but thought his former team member was more consistent throughout the song.
Adam felt that James did a better job on the song during rehearsals, but let his nerves take the better of him during his performance. And while Juhi did take his notes and show improvement, Adam ultimately chose to keep James on his team.
