Matthew Schuler Sings “Cosmic Love” by Florence + the Machine and Will Champlin Sings “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars
On October 29, Team Christina Aguilera singers Matthew Schuler and Will Champlin were paired to sing against one another on The Voice 2013 knockout rounds. Xtina paired the two energetic rock artists to see who could deliver the best performance.Matthew came out first, with his rendition of “Cosmic Love” by Florence + the Machine. At rehearsals, Christina told Matthew to pace himself, as his song choice was a tall order. When Matt hit stage, his performance was so great, it received a standing ovation from coach Christina and Cee Lo Green.
Will followed close behind with his/her rendition of “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars. Will chose the song to showcase his soulful side. Christina advised Will to bring the vulnerability, and he totally took her notes to heart.
Cee Lo Green loved Will’s vulnerable side, but also adored Matthew’s crazy style. Adam Levine initially thought that Matthew would “wipe the floor” with Will, but Adam was pleasantly surprised by how Will took the song and made it his own.
Blake Shelton complimented both men, and expressed his feeling of intimidation. Xtina expressed love for the two rockers, and enjoyed what Will did with the Bruno Mars song, but felt that Matthew “slayed” his song. Xtina ultimately went with Matthew, but putting his final steal into use, Adam brought Will back onto his team.
