We’re getting down to the wire on the fifth season of The Voice with just six vocalists left in the competition. But when exactly will the winner be announced?

The final night of live performances will be Monday, December 16, followed by the live results show on Tuesday, December 17. The finalists won’t just be performing covers as they have in the weeks prior to the season’s end, however. OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder will team up with each of the artists who make it to the finale to compose original songs!

Ryan has been a mentor for Team Adam Levine this season, but this is the first time he’ll be lending his songwriting talents to the show. And they are some serious talents. Ryan is responsible for such hits as “Good Life”, “Secrets”, and “Counting Stars.” He has also written hit songs for artists like Adele, Beyoncé, Carrie Underwood, and Maroon 5 — maybe you’ve heard of them?

This isn’t the first time The Voice has dabbled in original music; the artists from Season 1 also performed original songs. However, this is the first time they’ve brought in such mega star power to take on the task.

Could it be that The Voice is trying to finally have one of their winners crossover to the kind of success many American Idol winners have had? We guess we’ll see if that strategy has legs after the winning artist is announced December 17!
