It was practically a reunion tonight on The Voice with performances by Season 4's Swon Brothers, Michelle Chamuel, and Danielle Bradbery and Season 3's Cassadee Pope. However, while it was nice to see some old faces, the true purpose of the episode was to say goodbye to two of this season's artists. Would Season 5 be an all-Team-Adam affair, or would tonight see the end of his good luck streak?
Sadly, no. Mr. "Sexiest Man Alive" Adam Levine had to say goodbye to James Wolpert. Though he benefited from the Twitter Instant Save last week, his social media fan support wasn't big enough to carry him through to the finals.
"Adam, thank you. You've been the greatest coach of all time, and I'm so happy I went with you," James said to his coach as he left the stage. "I've had the time of my life." Adam hugged James and told him he couldn't have done better with his performance and was "so so proud" of him.
After Michelle's rousing performance of her single, "Go Down Singing" Team Adam got some good news to follow up the bad: Tessanne Chin will be moving on to the finals. We're not surprised — she was #1 on iTunes and had more than half of your votes in our Best Performance poll.
After performances by the past two winners, Season 3's Cassadee Pope and Season 4's Danielle Bradbery, Carson revealed the next artist moving on. From Team Christina, Jacquie Lee advances, which we also predicted (we feel the need to brag).
The last artist going into next week's finale is Team Adam's Will Champlin, sending Cole Vosbury home and ensuring that Blake Shelton's winning streak is over. "I"m so honored to have had the chance to work with you," Cole said to his coach. "I know I'm gonna have your guidance for the rest of my life."
What did you think of tonight's elimination? Did it go the way you wanted, or are you sad to see Cole and James go home?
