She may have come in second place on Season 5 of The Voice, but Jacquie Lee isn’t likely to play second fiddle to anyone after her impressive run on the show. In fact, the Colts Neck, New Jersey, native is feeling pretty great with how it all panned out in the end. Parade had a chance to catch up to the 16-year-old powerhouse singer, and she talked about how, despite coming in second, coach Christina Aguilera gave her a gift that made the night of the finale extra special.

“...After the show ended Christina pulled me aside and told me it was all ok, that she was proud, and then she gave me that journal. Then I saw her at the party we had after, and she pulled me up on stage and made me sing her ‘Happy Birthday’ in front of everyone. It was insane! I was like, ‘where am I right now?’” Jacquie gushed.

The gift Christina gave is especially heartfelt in light of comments she gave backstage after a recent episode of the show. The “Say Something” singer  talked about how journaling during her first years in the music business helped her to handle the tough love that comes along with it. She also said it’s great fodder for songwriting further on down the line. As she told reporters, she hopes Jacquie doesn’t fall victim to giving up when facing the harshness of the music industry.

"I've been in this for a long time. So many people I see, they come in, they get rattled and things start becoming done for different reasons and reasons that really have nothing to do with being at the core, an artist, and making music for the love of it. And that makes me sad. So this girl is a gem and I'll be darned if I'm going to let that happen with her,” Xtina said of her protegee.

It really sounds to us like these two formed a significant bond. What do you think of Christina’s advice and gift to Jacquie? Let us know in the comments!
