"I'm not coming back, guys," the “Forget You” singer told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview Wednesday. “I just don’t want to wear out my welcome there, you know what I’m saying? I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven’t released an album in four years. I’m almost done with my album.”
We’re not quite sure what he meant by wearing out his welcome, but the singer has been unsuccessful as a coach during his four-season run. He also faced some rather scandalous legal charges this past year.
Though Cee Lo is leaving The Voice, he isn’t leaving NBC — the musician tells Ellen he has another show in the works with the network.
The question remains, though –– who will take Cee Lo Green’s place on The Voice? While we don’t have any scoop just yet, we can name a few folks we’d love to see take up his swivel chair.
We’d love to give Christina Aguilera a little more girl power, and our pick would be the oh-so-amazing P!nk. There were rumors the American Idol producers were trying to snag her to land a “dream team” of judges, but we never heard whether she’d even consider a reality show. While our brains tell us “no,” our hearts will hold out hope for a “yes.” Come on, can you even imagine the fierce and candid P!nk turning around to pick someone during a blind audition? Talk about a killer addition to the show. We can dream, right?
Of course, landing either Taylor Swift or Lorde would be optimal for the show’s ratings, as both these girls are constantly in the media. With stars on the rise, we’re not sure they’d be interested but, if the show can get Adam Levine on board, one would think they could get just about anyone!
If we had to go with a guy, we’d love to see John Legend take a spot on this popular show. Besides being adorbs, the guy is insanely talented and seems like one cool cat.
Another direction the show could take would be to land another country singer, as everyone knows Blake Shelton is the cockiest coach of all. Giving him a run for his money in the country genre by nabbing young cutie pie Hunter Hayes or the majorly successful Carrie Underwood would surely be interesting.
