June Carter and Johnny Cash. Captain and Tenille. Sonny and Cher. Who can resist a good romantic/musical duo? Well, now there’s Dawn & Hawkes.
The Austin-based singer-songwriters, who describe their sound as “indie-folk-americana,” shared a moment one night in a juke-joint and now they share everything, including their home and the stage. According to their website, it all began when Chris Hawkes asked “this pretty girl” named Miranda Dawn to dance.
They soon learned they had a shared love of music and performance. Miranda says it was a lock from that moment on, and now they tour the country together and share a home in Austin. "Our timing and rhythm were just in-sync and when we added harmonies, songs, and guitar playing, it all went together — like dancing."
Now, however, they’ll have to learn to dance with a third partner, because they’ll be collaborating with their coach Adam Levine when they enter the Battle Rounds in a couple weeks. That shouldn’t be a problem, though, since their taste in music is so in sync with their coach, who called their audition his favorite performance ever on the show.
Do you think Dawn & Hawkes have what it takes to win The Voice?
