On March 3, singers Melissa Jimenez took The Voice stage to belt out “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys. The 29-year-old vocalist works with her father’s 10-piece orchestra, and has even worked with the likes of Wyclef Jean! Though Melissa was signed to a record company, the Fort Lee native’s deal fell through. Taking the stage with an acapella opening, Melissa caught the coaches attention. And to add a little flare, Melissa even sang part of the song in Spanish!

This prompted both coaches Usher and Shakira to push their buttons at the very end. Both coaches went in for the kill, with Usher dropping the names of artists he worked with (that Melissa is a fan of), and Shakira using her Latina commonality.

When it was time to make a choice, Melissa chose to go with the coach she wanted all along, which was Usher.
