Stevie Jo Sings His Rendition of “There Goes My Baby” by Usher
On March 4, 19-year-old singer Stevie Jo, aka Steven Rosenbaum, took The Voice stage to belt out “There Goes My Baby” by Usher. The Texan teen comes from a musical family, with his parents being former metal singers! The singer recalled that he was often made fun of because of his “girlish” voice, but Stevie learned to embrace his R&B, soul sound as he got older and even got a theater scholarship for his voice.
Usher was quite impressed with the singer, so much so that he pushed his button. Blake seemed to consider turning and asked Adam if he planned to, but considering the song choice, Adam figured it was a lost cause. “Why? He’s going with Usher.”
All four judges were pleasantly surprised to see that Stevie Jo, though he sounded like Usher, “looked like Blake!” Blake and Shakira complimented Stevie’s amazing falsettos and Adam confessed that he didn’t push his button because he knew that Stevie would go with Usher — after all, he did choose an Usher song! And you know what, Adam was right.
