On March 10, singer Cierra Mickens took The Voice stage to belt out “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley. The 23-year-old studied political science and criminal justice in college, with the intention of going to law school, but learned to truly love music. Cierra currently works with her dad helping other military families adjust to living in the cold state, however, she hoped that by being on The Voice, she could follow her love of singing.

Coach Shakira pushed her button for the Alaska native, followed by Blake Shelton, and finally Usher, who joined in at the last minute. After Cierra’s performance, Shakira took the stage to hug Cierra and tell her that she thought Cierra was amazing and that she believed in her.

Blake told Cierra that her performance got better and better as she continued to sing, adding an “extra layer” of talent on what he deemed a difficult song to sing. Usher told Cierra that he was none too happy with Shaki trying to make a connection with a singer, who he thought would build a significant bond with him as they worked on her career.

When coach Adam Levine asked Cierra to make her choice, the vocalist Cierra chose to join Team Shakira!
