On March 11, 19-year-old Caleb Elder took The Voice stage to belt out “Groove Me” by King Floyd. The shy singer, who has mastered several instruments — self taught, by the way— went to school for sound engineering, but ultimately left it alone hoping to pursue his dreams of being musician.

The energetic vocalist hopped around the stage, coincidentally hoping for Adam Levine to push his button. As coach Adam Levine was the only coach left with a spot to fill, it all boiled down to whether or not Adam heard something in Caleb to add him to his team.

After just a few seconds of performing, Adam pushed his button for Caleb, which startled Caleb so much so that he almost stopped singing! Adam encouraged Caleb to continue singing, which impressed both Shakira and Blake Shelton.

While Adam told Caleb that there would be some work to be done, he admired Caleb’s confidence and attitude and finally closed out his team.
