Most of the time we think The Voice’s coaches are pretty spot on with their selections, but we have to say we think they missed the mark with Joe Trombino. The 33-year-old dancer/singer from  Queens, NY had plenty of soul with his rendition of Al Green’s “Love and Happiness,” but all four chairs stayed put.

For Adam Levine, it came down to an issue of timing. “You were behind the beat,” he told Joe. Truthfully, we didn’t notice, but we haven’t won two seasons of The Voice, so what do we know? Shakira loved Joe’s “delayed vibrato” effect but urged him to work out the timing issue and come back.

Perhaps the coaches would have been better convinced if they could have seen the dance skills Joe showcased — all while singing with full voice. Ah, the downsides to the Blind Auditions being, well, blind. But even without seeing those killer moves, we think Joe was better than a few singers we’ve seen put through to the Battle Rounds this season.

We gotta say we agree with Joe’s mom: he was “frickin’ amazing,” man. But we’re curious if viewers agree: Was Joe robbed, or did the coaches make the right move by staying put?
