This announcement is sure to make The Voice fans happy!
Pharrell Williams is signing on as a replacement coach for Cee Lo Green when the singing competition returns in the fall for its seventh season! The news, reported by Us Weekly, has been confirmed by a Wetpaint Entertainment source close to Pharrell. “This is going to be so fun,” Pharrell tweeted shortly after the show’s official Twitter handle made the announcement.
The “Happy” singer is no stranger to The Voice, having performed on the show along with Robin Thicke and T.I. He also served as a guest mentor during the Season 4 Battle Rounds. Usher, who is currently filling Cee Lo’s spot, is sure to be in full endorsement of the decision.
“His ability to nurture and develop talent is invaluable and will truly benefit each and every one on my team,” Ush said of Pharrell last March.
Cee Lo announced last month on The Ellen Degeneres Show that he was parting ways with the popular NBC show to focus on his music. As for his fellow on-again, off-again coach Christina Aguilera, her status is still unknown. Although she’s hasn’t said she’s done for good with her red chair come fall, with a wedding to plan and a baby on the way, it’s entirely possible she’ll extend her hiatus from the show.
What do you think of Pharrell as the next coach on The Voice?
