Last night, The Voice 2014 Season 6 saw its first round of playoffs, featuring the remaining five contestants from Team Blake Shelton: Audra McLaughlin, Ryan Whyte Maloney, Madilyn Paige, Jake Worthington, and Sisaundra Lewis. Each of the performers had one final shot to impress their coach and snag one of the three coveted spots to represent him in the Live Shows.

As expected, all five vocalists did a great job, and though Blake selected his top three, we decided to that there was one performance that stood out.

Several artists have grown leaps and bounds in terms of singing ability, including Madilyn Paige, whose rendition of “Clarity” by Zedd proved there’s a star in her waiting to shine. Ryan Whyte Maloney blew us away with his performance of Shinedown’s “Second Chance,” and as always, lovable, charming country boy Jake Worthington impressed us with his cover of Jake Owens’s “Anywhere With You.”

However, at the end of the night, it was Sisaundra Lewis and her cover of “New York State of Mind” that truly took our breath away. The mom of three was able to pull back just enough of her often overwhelmingly powerful vocals and left the coaches speechless.

It was obvious that this was the performance of the night, as it spurred Blake to pick Sisaundra (as well as Jake and Audra) to represent him in the Live Shows.
