On April 14, Team Usher singer T.J. Wilkins gave a rousing performance of “Tell Me Something Good” by Chaka Khan and RUFUS. T.J. decided to perform the song as it was written by his musical idol, Stevie Wonder. Usher advised T.J. to put more soul into the record in order to make his performance great.

Taking the stage with the funky ‘70s tune, T.J. blew the audience away and even got the coaches to sing along!

Shakira told T.J. that like the audience, she adored him, and thought that his falsetto was the “ace” up his sleeve. Adam Levine thought the performance was great and told T.J. that he chose a great song (which so happens to be one of his favorite songs). Adam drew attention to T.J.’s innate ability to grab the audience and advised T.J. to keep doing what he does and he would be well on his way to making it through the competition. Blake Shelton told the singer that he finally saw how great of a competitor he was, while Usher told T.J. it was great to see a representation of a genre of music that he loved. He later said the singer that he “killed it” and said that T.J.’s performance essentially set the bar for the rest of the night.
