On May 5, Team Usher singer Josh Kaufman gave a rousing performance of “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt.

To make their rehearsal session special, Usher decided to take Josh out of The Voice studio and had him rehearse in the same studio where Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, and Quincy Jones recorded “We Are The World.” As Usher’s final contestant, there was a lot of pressure to make Josh’s performance as emotional and relatable as possible to make the audience fall in love with Josh’s voice.

Giving a soulful rendition of the Bonnie Raitt hit record, Josh gave his all on a dimly lit stage and earned a standing ovation from his coach and family.

Shakira thought that Josh was an artist of good taste and intuition which she thought was vital to the musical industry and thought that his take on the classic song was a massive accomplishment.  Adam Levine told Josh that he was continually proud of him — despite no longer being on his team.

Blake Shelton called Josh’s performance “magic,” while his own coach thought he did amazingly well and possessed the amount of confidence that a true artist has. Finally, Usher gave Josh the ultimate compliment by saying that this was his best performance yet.
