On May 12, Team Usher singer Josh Kaufman gave a rousing performance of “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic.

Usher wants Josh to do something a little more upbeat and embrace a pop-bluegrass sound that he thinks is really good for the Indianapolis singer. He also things that having him do this song will help America envision what a modern single by Josh would sound like.

Performing again without his hat (whyyyyyy!? We love the hats), we have to say, this is the most swagger we’ve ever seen Josh have on stage. His vocals were flawless as usual, but it was nice to see him rock out for a change. We can’t help but wonder if this performance was different enough for Shakira, who seemed to want something other than a love song from the 38-year-old teacher.

Adam Levine started off the critiques. but since it took so long for the crowd road to finally die down, all he could say was it was amazing. Blake Shelton said Josh reminds him of Robert Palmer and calls him a “natural born killer singer.” Usher said left it all out on the stage.
