James Wolpert may not have won his season of The Voice but he walked away with a prize even better than the title of champion: his legions of devoted fans! The 23-year-old finished fourth back in December 2013, his departure making for one of the tougher ones we witnessed during Season 5.
But being booted off national television didn’t get this guy down! The former Team Adam member turned to — where else? — the internet to get the backing he needed to make his musical dreams a reality and boy, did the internet provide!
Setting his Kickstarter fundraising goal at $25,000, James not only hit that number, he exceeded it! As of publishing. James has raised nearly $27,000 thanks to 660 backers. And fellow fans, you know what that means: James is going to make a record!
James describes his forthcoming album as “a carefully considered mix of hard-hitting rock anthems and delicate, lilting ballads” that will serve as “a self-portrait of sorts.” Tracking is actually already underway with James expecting to have the final product in fans’ hands by mid to late July. And that quick turnaround time is, to us, the best news of all!
