Last night’s live results show on The Voice Season 3 offered us the first real surprise in the competition thus far when Team Adam lost both Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown. While we were sad to see Melanie go, we’d expected Amanda to make it all the way to the finale.

Here are our Top 3 reasons the sultry, soulful singer shouldn’t have been eliminated last night.

1) She Was the Most Versatile Contestant This Season

While Amanda has her strengths, she can’t be placed in one genre. She started in gospel, gave a killer pop diva performance in the battle rounds, wailed on classic rock tunes, and delivered an impressive R&B performance with Ne-Yo last night. Amanda has more than a great voice — she’s also a creative, cross-genre artist.

2) She Was the Product of The Voice’s New Format

Amanda was proof that The Voice’s new format was well worth the trouble. After battling Trevin Hunte from Team Cee Lo, Amanda was “stolen” by Adam Levine. She made it all the way to the Top 6 with a major fan following, proving the new changes were worthwhile.

3) She’s Already at Pro Level

We’ve seen Amanda perform with Adam Levine and Ne-Yo, and homegirl is better than the pros! Her pure sound effortlessly blends with the current stars on the radio, and she often shows up today’s popular vocalists in her live show performances. There’s no auto-tuning on this girl, and she’s definitely not going to be anyone’s backup singer now!
