The country music community was shocked and saddened on April 29 to hear that after 12 years of marriage, singer Jason Aldean and his wife Jessica Ussery were filing for divorce. The couple’s relationship has been suffering for months after Jason was photographed getting intimate with for American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr in fall 2012.

The news immediately made us think of country music power couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, whose relationship has been blasted in the tabloids after rumors of infidelity.

Fans might jump to the conclusion that Blake and Miranda are headed down the same path as Jason and Jessica after less than two years of marriage, but we’re here to defend the couple.

Here’s three reasons they’ll never pull a Jason Aldean:

1) They Publicly Deny Rumors Together

After rumors that Blake cheated on Miranda surfaced, the couple took to Twitter to mock the tabloids that claim to know more about their marriage than they do. Showing a united front, these two prove that their marriage is secure.

2) They Make Long Distance Work

Being hit country music artists who tour regularly, living apart is all too common for Blake and Miranda. And with Blake’s gig on The Voice, the couple has spent more time long distance than together. But they’re both determined to make it work, and have been for almost two years. They made a promise to never spend more than two weeks apart and they’ve stuck by that.

3) They’re a Power Couple

No couple wins quite as many awards in country music as Blake and Miranda. Together they’re unstoppable. They wrote chart-topping single “Over You,” which has won countless ACM and CMT awards, and they often compete with one another for some of the top honors in country music. Breaking up this dream team would be a travesty to the genre.
