So we all know that Usher is a multi-million, platinum record selling, singer/songwriter. But what else do we know about the Texas-born songbird? We’ve compiled a list of five crazy things you probably never knew!

1. Usher Has a Road Named After Him!

Yes! We couldn’t believe it either, but it’s entirely true. Although Usher was born in Dallas, he actually spent most of his childhood in Chattanooga, Tenn. with his mother. He started singing in church choirs while he lived there and even joined a local singing group. The “Usher Raymond Parkway” was named after him, in his honor. Cool!

2. Usher’s Favorite Flowers Are Orchids

Who knew that Usher’s favorite flower would be the delicate orchid? Hmm...

3. Usher Lived With Sean “P. Diddy” Combs as a Teen

What some people may not know is that Usher started his singing career at 9 in 1987. After many failed attempts at success, Usher finally made his big break at 13, when he won Star Search. Mr. Big Ush even set the record for being the only child to sing a note for 12.1 seconds! His impressive singing caught the attention of rapper/ producer Sean “Diddy” Combs, who later had Usher live with him in New York for several months while they worked on Usher’s first solo album.

4. His Album My Way Is a Tribute to Frank Sinatra

That’s right! Usher’s album My Way was an homage to the famed singer Frank “Mickey Blue Eyes” Sinatra. If you’re old enough to know, one of Sinatra’s biggest hits was the song “My Way.” We guess Usher must really look up to Mickey Blue because he recorded the video of his song “Burn,” at the former Rat Pack member’s home. Impressive!

5. Usher Likes to Eat His Candy … How?

Among Usher’s favorite things to eat, M&Ms top his list of favorite candy. Not only does he love his M&Ms, but he loves to eat them by color. Yup. Our guy likes to make sure that he has all his reds, greens, yellows, and browns together before chomping them down.
