Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green may be taking a brief break from The Voice next season to further their careers, but tattooed rocker Adam Levine isn’t going anywhere.

Though he’s been producing hit tunes with his band Maroon 5 for more than a decade, Adam didn’t quite gain personal fame until his stint on the hit music competition show. And he’s the first to admit it.

“When you don’t have a chance to talk, people don’t know your personality,” he said in a press conference that Wetpaint Entertainment attended in New York City. “The Voice was a Renaissance in my career.”

So how did he even get the red chair without being a household name before the show?

“I got the job on The Voice because someone at NBC saw me on [Late Night With Jimmy] Fallon,” Adam revealed. “Where he had plopped me down, sitting with The Roots, singing a couple songs and some impromptu stuff with Jimmy. So we got into a little banter and we had a conversation and apparently someone from NBC saw that and that’s how I got that job.”

Do you have a name of that NBC employee, Adam? We’d like to send them a fruit basket ... or 10.

And the singer’s start on the show has now opened plenty of doors for him in the entertainment industry. He has appeared on three episodes of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story and is set to star in the film Can a Song Save Your Life?

“People saw me running my mouth and thought I could act, which is funny because I never have,” Adam said. “I had no plans to do it. Then I got a couple phone calls, and I did it and now I’m here. Trust me, I respect the craft, and I’m by no means an actor at this point.”

Well, we’ve personally been loving Adam’s roles on TV and in film. Would you like to see him act more? Weigh in below!
