It turns out country crooner Blake Shelton isn’t all jokes on Twitter. On April 26 he tweeted about the loss of a country icon.

“Really REALLY bad news. We've lost a country music legend. And I've lost a hero and a friend.  Goodbye George Jones...” Blake tweeted.

The 81-year-old singer passed away in Nashville, Tenn. today. George is known for hits like “White Lightning,” “Tender Years,” “She Thinks I Still Care,” and “Walk Through This World With Me.”

CMT called George “the finest vocalist in the recorded history of country music.”

And Blake’s not the only one in The Voice family to tweet about the loss of this great musician. Team Blake artists The Swon Brothers and Team Shakira artist Tawnya Reynolds tweeted about George and host Carson Daly also had a few words to say.

“Great memories of listening to #georgejones as a kid thru adulthood thoughts and prayers with his family RIP. Huge loss in music,” Carson wrote.
