Sure, The Voice is about discovering a new generation of musical talent, but it’s also a major competition between the four celebrity coaches. And now that there are two newbies filling in Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green’s big red chairs, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine are on their guards to find out who to look out for in the blind auditions.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Blake at the TCAs this weekend, where he admitted that originally they were the most concerned about sexy R&B singer Usher, but they learned quickly.

“I'd heard of Shakira, and it wasn't until one day, I think I Googled Shakira or Wikipedia’d or whatever, and I saw where she sold like over a hundred million,” Blake said. “It's like what the f—? That's when I think, even Adam, we were both like, oh my God. We were worried about the wrong person here. This is a girl that knows how to affect an audience, and she does it worldwide.”

And though Blake’s achieving more worldwide recognition with his success on The Voice, he admits that he’s still not at Shakira’s level.

“I'm excited when I leave Oklahoma and somebody's heard who I am,” he joked. “ So having somebody like her sitting there, and she's just the triple threat. She's the quadruple threat. I mean she's a writer. She's a singer. She's beautiful. She's a producer. She's smart. I mean it's all these things. And I've performed with her now. It's like, all right. I give up. Maybe we've all been beaten already don't know it. We'll see what happens.”
