Competition on The Voice is stiff, but it seems that contestants Tony Lucca and Chris Cauley faced a tougher judging session than their blind auditions.

The pair sang U2’s “Beautiful Day” during the first round of battles last Monday. Tony beat Chris in a close match, but before the performance could happen, the duo had to get approval from Bono himself!

Bono watched Tony and Chris’s blind audition videos before he gave them the OK to sing one of his most famous songs.

On Chris Cauley’s NBC blog he said, “One of the defining moments in my life happened when Adam told us that this song was a personal favor for him.  He told us that before Bono would clear the song for the show, he needed to watch our blind audition videos.  Well, he approved.  CRAZY!!!!  Amazing to think that the biggest band in the world watch me and has faith in me to do their song justice on national TV.”

Pretty cool that both contestants made it past Bono’s test, even if Chris won’t be moving on to the live shows.

What do you think of Bono’s approval process? Comment below!
