The last time a female lead singer from a popular punk rock band hit The Voice stage, she took home second place and later signed a record deal with her coach, Cee Lo Green. But that was Juliet Simms, and this season, it’s all about Team Blake’s Cassadee Pope.

The former Hey Monday rocker is a known frontrunner, setting Voice records with her No. 1 rendition of Miranda Lambert’s “Over You,” and even garnering the support of contestant-less Christina Aguilera.

When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with the 23-year-old on the red carpet following last night’s live show, she dished on her performances and what’s to come.

Wetpaint Entertainment: How do you feel about the way things went tonight?

Cassadee Pope: I feel good!  I feel like I gave my everything and I sang a song I have been obsessed with since I was a kid, so that was just a big moment for me.

Why are you so obsessed with Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You”?

I grew up idolizing Avril, and “I’m With You” is such a beautifully written song. Everything about it — from the production, to the lyrics, to the melody — it’s just all there perfectly, and as a songwriter, I look up to that song because it’s a great, great song. I always looked up to her, so it’s one of my favorites.

How did you feel about “Stand,” chosen by Blake?

I think it went great.  I was kind of nervous when I first got it because it’s a great song, but it’s a singalong kind of song. For a girl, showing my vocals, I kind of have to sing a girl’s song to do that, so I had to take “Stand” and morph it and make it different, into something that would be something I would cover. I went with a little more of a soulful approach, which I’ve never done before, so it was fun!

Do you think it will be hard to top “Over You,” which has received so much fan support?

I thought it would be, and I’m not saying that I have, but last week, people were saying that was a great performance to come out of “Over You.” I would love to do a stripped-down ballad eventually, so maybe that’ll have the same effect as “Over You” did, but I’m not going to have a moment exactly like “Over You,” and that’s what makes it so special. I don’t even want to overshadow it.

Who do you think is your biggest competition?

It’s hard because we’re all so different. I think all of them are equally as able to win this thing as the other person, so it’s hard to say.  Everyone’s amazing, so I’m just trying to beat myself every week. That’s my approach.

Last week, Christina Aguilera told us she was going to support you now that all her contestants are gone.

Oh, yeah! That was on your site! I was like, “Yes!”

How do you feel about that?

I feel so amazing. I mean, I’ve always looked up to Christina, so it’s great.  Ever since my blind audition — when she stood for me and wanted me to be on her team — I’ve been so enamoured with her and her critiques. I think she’s so on point with everything and it’s so cool. I respect her, so it was great.

Are you confident or nervous going into tomorrow’s live results show?

I’m nervous. I think that I gave everything I could, but I also think everyone else did as well and the competition is crazy. They’re all so good, so I’m nervous, and I wish I could say that I’m super confident, but I’m confident in that I did the best that I could do.
