Last night’s Top 10 live shows on The Voice Season 3 brought some of the best performances in Voice history, and at the top of our list was Team Blake’s Cassadee Pope.

The pop punk singer took on Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s country ballad “Over You,” written for Blake’s late brother. The emotional performance brought everyone to tears and solidified her as a major contender this season.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Cassadee on the red carpet directly following her performance last night and she had plenty to share.

Wetpaint Entertainment: How do you feel about tonight?

Cassadee Pope: I feel good. I don’t know what to say. I went out there and emotionally put myself in it and just to see Blake be that proud meant a lot.

What made you initially pick that song?

I wanted to do a ballad and I was trying to think of ... something outside of the box rather than a pop rock ballad that people would expect. I remember hearing “Over You” and just thinking, “This is a beautifully written song.” I went and researched it and looked it up and found out what it was about and found out they wrote it together and just thought, “Wow. What better song to do than this and have a moment like that with him.”

Were you nervous at first to ask him if you could sing it?

Yes! I was so nervous because Miranda had just won a CMA for it and I knew it was still fresh and the shock of that. Also, it’s a new song. It’s not like he had much time to get used to it and I mean, you can’t ever get used to something like that. He was so cool. He was like, ‘Wow. That sounds amazing. I can’t wait to hear your voice on it. Let’s figure this out.’ I was happy he was very accepting of that.

So Adam said that this was your best performance yet and that you should do more country. Do you think you’ll do more country going forward on the show?

Yeah. I love the pop country stuff. I mean that’s more my style. When I would try to explain to people when I went solo before and didn’t have a label and was trying to get label’s attention … I would say it was like an edgy Taylor Swift and not super country. And people would be like, ‘Oh country.’ So I’m excited to be able to show what I meant by that and then shove it in people’s faces.

Blake had amazing things to say. What did you think of the other judge’s feedback?

I mean I’m always so taken back when Christina says nice things to me. I love her and I just respect her so much, so to hear her say that she connected with me again this week means a lot. I know how much passion she has behind her singing and it just means a lot that she can connect with me that deeply as well.

Do you feel like you won her over today?

I hope so. I mean, I’m a little afraid of her because I know one week she’ll be like that and the next she’ll be like, ‘I don’t know. I couldn’t feel it.’ She’s very honest, and that’s what I love about her. I want to always just keep impressing her.

So you listen to the feedback, but you really zone into Christina’s comments?

I really zone in on hers because it means a lot for her to like me or not. Every time she says my name, my heart kind of pounds. I’m like, ‘Oh my God. Christina Aguilera!’

How do you feel about going into the results show tomorrow?

I’m definitely nervous, but if I went home, I’d still be stoked about my performance. I feel like I gave everything I needed to and if America didn’t relate and didn’t get it, then there’s nothing else I can really do. I feel like my singing was on and I emotionally was in it, so that’s all I could do.
