Christina Aguilera Signs on for a New “Cycle” of The Voice to Air in Fall 2012
Though Season 2 of The Voice has just gotten underway, The Wrap has reported that judge Christina Aguilera has re-upped her contract and signed on for a second “cycle” of The Voice, to tape September through December, 2012.
So far, Christina is the only judge to renew her contract. Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Cee Lo Green are all reported to have conflicting schedules that would not allow them to participate in a second edition of the show, though it is expected they will return to the show next year for its regular run.
Since premiering after the Super Bowl on Sunday, The Voice has had spectacular ratings, but insiders say execs are waiting to see how it performs several weeks into the season. Should the show air in the fall, it would be up against the second season of Simon Cowell’s project, The X Factor.
So what does this mean for the show? Will Adam, Blake, and Cee Lo join Xtina on the judges panel or will they bring in three new judges? Would she have an unfair advantage, having been on the show before? Are two lengthy “cycles” of The Voice too much for one year?
