This season of The Voice is filled with familiar faces, and we’re not just talking about the four celebrity coaches. Several returning contestants like Dez Duron and Sam James have made it much further in the competition this time around, and one of the most talked about is Team Cee Lo’s Danny Rosa.

The California native, who has battled his nerves for the past two seasons of the show, spoke to Wetpaint Entertainment and dished on his battle, his coach, and being labelled the “emotional” contestant.

“Everytime I get on the stage and everytime I start to perform, my confidence has been getting better,” Danny revealed. “I don’t know if the nerves will ever leave, but I know that they’re getting better.”

And something must be working, because he bested his opponent Alexis Marceaux in their battle on Monday night. But it wasn’t the music that intimidated Danny going into the battle.

“It is hard for me to break out of the choir stance,” he admitted. “Walking around is very different for me. When it comes to the music, I know what I want to happen, but for the rest of my body, I have no idea what I’m doing.”

Danny hopes his coach Cee Lo Green will help him with that this season.

“Cee Lo Green, he’s crazy,” he said. “He likes to do these big things, and I’m not used to that. I was hoping that he’d help me out with that. I definitely took that into consideration when I picked him.”

How does a “crazy” coach mesh with such an “emotional” singer?

“I’m not an extremely emotional person,” Danny said. “I’m not crying every single day of my life, though it doesn’t seem like that on the show. That’s something I really need to get over. I’m here now and I deserve to be here.”

We’re loving his new-found confidence! But who does he view as his biggest competition this season?

“I would have to say Melanie Martinez from Team Adam,” he revealed. “She’s intimidating, even though she’s a little girl. She has a really unique sound. I would definitely have my eye on her.”
