At this point on The Voice, it’s pretty clear that Team Cee Lo is the strongest in the competition. If we could have a final four with just those contestants, we’d be happy campers, but sadly that’s not the format of the show.

Last night, we lost the pure, genuine sound of Boston native James Massone. The subtle singer couldn’t hold up against the powerhouse sounds of Jamar Rogers, Juliet Simms, and Cheesa.

“I knew I was going home,” James said in an exit interview. “I’m sorry to say it. But I just had a feeling after everyone’s performances tonight. I fit with Cee Lo, but I’m very laid back. I do these small songs, laid-back songs, and not too much production.”

Despite being cut, James was encouraged when Cee Lo talked to him after the elimination saying, “I got you.”

“That was nice of him to say,” James said. “It made me feel a lot better.”

We were sad to see him go, but we’re sure Papa Cee Lo will take care of him. Maybe there will be a sultry R&B album in young James’s future!
