Last night on The Voice, we sadly had to say goodbye to one of our Top 6 favorites, Melanie Martinez. As the youngest singer in the competition, Melanie impressed us each week with the emotional depth in each of her performances.
To honor her time on The Voice Season 3, we’ve compiled a list of our Top 3 favorite performance by the artistic youngster, plus a bonus track for good measure. Check them out below!
3. Britney Spears’s “Toxic”
Melanie’s blind audition definitely stands out as one of her most memorable performances. She took the Britney Spears hit and put her own twist on it, playing the acoustic guitar and foot tambourine, and turned all three chairs! Clearly our first impression of this unique singer was right, considering she made it all the way to the Top 6!
2. The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army”
This was Melanie’s first song to hit the Top 10 chart on iTunes, and for good reason. Performing with a backdrop of her own photography, Melanie really let the emotion ring through in her voice, giving a distinctive take on the popular tune. The performance even sparked Cee Lo Green to say, “That’s one of the coolest things that’s happened this season.”
1. Alex Clare’s “Too Close”
Melanie performed a haunting rendition of this tune a few weeks back, after telling coach Adam Levine and America about a painful breakup she was going through. The folksy backdrop along with the heartfelt backstory really set the stage for this dazzling performance.
Bonus Track: Melanie Martinez and Nicholas David Sing “Criminal” by Fiona Apple
So maybe this one doesn’t count, but we loved the duet between Melanie and Nicholas in last night’s live results show. Sadly, it wasn’t available on iTunes, but we’re starting the petition for these two to make an album together, stat!
Should Melanie have stayed or was it her time to go? Tell us below!
