With rumors swirling about Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s potentially troubled marriage every day, the couple’s every move is under scrutiny.

So when Miranda showed up to the Kentucky Derby this weekend riding solo, Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with a guest about the event to see how Miranda acted without her man. The country starlet performed with Kid Rock at the annual Barnstable Brown Gala, bringing some girlfriends (including her Pistol Annies bandmates) to the party instead of Blake.

“Just in light of everything you’ve been reading about them lately, it seemed odd he wasn’t there,” the guest tells Wetpaint Entertainment. “Especially since Miranda was performing. He should have been there to support her.”

In Blake’s defense, he is going into the first week of live shows on The Voice Season 4, which is set to be a three-night extravaganza. Rehearsals for this epic showcase are bound to be time consuming and are being taped in Los Angeles, more than a thousand miles from the Kentucky Derby.

But even without Blake, Miranda and co. seemed to have a good time. Guests received complimentary fedoras on their way out, courtesy of New Era Cap, and there was plenty of singing and dancing.

“It was cute that she turned it into a girls night out,” the guest told us. “But I’m sure she’d rather have had Blake with her.”
