The final episode of battle rounds on April 23 featured plenty of exhilarating performances from talented Voice contenders. Sadly only seven could move on to the knockout rounds, but those who were eliminated certainly won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
Unfortunately three battles were grouped into one of The Voice’s infamous montage sequences, and we were really looking forward to watching some of these artists like blonde novelty duo The Morgan Twins and former Sing-Off star, Amy Whitcomb.
But there was plenty of entertainment in last night’s episode. Seasoned rocker Shawna P. took to The Voice stage looking like a flower power rocker and ended up taking down bowler-wearing Brandon Roush on a classic Janis Joplin tune.
Sarah Simmons also dominated her battle against Hawaiian singer Duncan Kamakana with her powerful vocals and ethereal sound.
When it comes to the best battle of the night, the award has to go to Latin singers Mary Miranda and Cáthia. Once these two were able to get their behind-the-scenes catfight out of their systems, they put on a heartfelt performance of Shakira’s “Antes De Las Seis.”
And though we, like Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, didn’t understand a word of the performance, the ladies definitely showed off their powerful vocal range and ability to convey emotion.
Mary ultimately won the battle, but Usher snatched up Cáthia in his final steal of the competition. Do you agree with our pick? Watch the clip and tell us what you think below!
