On April 8, The Voice welcomed former Broadway and backup singer Sasha Allen to the stage. The New York native and mother of two shocked viewers and coaches alike with her creative rendition of The Dixie Chicks’ “Not Ready to Make Nice.”

The singer ultimately opted for Team Adam Levine (not too shabby), and Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with her the day after her blind audition aired to talk about her journey thus far and her plans for Season 4.

Before The Voice, Sasha was best known for her work in the Broadway revival of Hair. Now that she’s in a competition for a recording contract, has she given up on the Great White Way?

“I would definitely hope to return to the Broadway stage, but I think that I’ll be able to be a recording artist and also stay true to my Broadway fans,” she told us.

And though Sasha’s comfortable on the stage, she does admit that she hardly remembers her blind audition.

“It’s so funny how it all feels like a blur,” she said. “I guess [picking Adam] was just a feeling from the heart. I actually don’t remember exactly what he said, but there just was a passion and a fire coming from him. That’s all you can ask for.”

It’s no surprise the Sasha joined the tattooed rocker’s team, especially considering former Team Adam contestant Amanda Brown is a friend of hers. Along with Season 2 winner and fellow backup singer Jermaine Paul, Sasha says Amanda inspired her to audition in the first place.

“I actually know both of them very well,” she said. “They are both friends of mine. I think watching Amanda was really encouraging. I found that people were really appreciating what she had to offer, and hopefully they’ll appreciate what I have to offer as well.”

Amanda made it to the Top 6 of the competition, so Sasha should have a fair shot at plenty of screen time. What did you think of her? Could Sasha win? Tell us below!
