Now that the first two episodes of The Voice Season 4 have aired, we can bask in the glorious new dynamic between first-time coaches, Usher and Shakira.

These newbies are already holding their own against coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton in the red chairs, but how do they relate to each other?

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Blake Shelton offered his own take on Shakira’s feelings toward Usher.

“I think he gets under her skin a little bit, because he sits there and he’s Usher,” Blake said. “He [doesn’t] even have to say that much. He just gives whoever the person is ‘the look’ and they’re like, ‘Usher!’ After a while, Shakira started mocking him a little bit. It was getting on her nerves and it should have … It was getting on my nerves.”

But Shakira shouldn’t be surprised by Usher’s fame and ability to charm the contestants. She worked with the R&B superstar when they performed together at President Barack Obama’s first inauguration in 2008.

Along with Stevie Wonder, Usher and Shakira performed at “We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at The Lincoln Memorial.” Their past doesn’t stop her from mocking Usher’s overly casual “leg in chair” stance during the blind auditions.
