The Voice Beats Out American Idol For Producers Guild Award Nomination
Oh, the times are a-changin’ in the competitive television world! In years past, American Idol dominated the Producers Guild Awards’ reality category, but this year, The Voice edged them out.
According to E! News’ list of nominees from yesterday’s announcement, a few categories had shows swapped out from last year, but the Outstanding Producer of Competitive Television category remains mostly stagnant.
While The Amazing Race, Dancing With the Stars, Project Runway, and Top Chef are all still there, The Voice replaced American Idol, completely knocking the veteran vocal competition out of the race.
However, The Voice still needs to beat out four top-performing shows to take home the award, but we’re rooting for them.
