The Voice Breaks Records With Cassadee Pope's iTunes Success
The Voice has many accolades, including a handful of awards and celebrity fans, and it added one more this season: chart-topper.
Contestants frequently top the iTunes charts, but Team Blake’s Cassadee Pope did one better with her emotional rendition of Miranda Lambert’s “Over You.” After hitting No. 1 on iTunes, it also hit No. 3 on the Hot Digital Songs chart.
While this may not seem exciting to those unfamiliar with the chart, it is big news for The Voice. Cassadee’s hit marks the first time since the Season 1 finale that the show’s songs made it into the Top 10, according to Billboard. She sold 152,000 downloads between the night it was performed (Nov. 19) and Nov. 25, and she surpassed both Season 1 winner Javier Colon and runner-up Dia Frampton’s former spots on the chart (they hit No. 6 and No. 7, respectively).
While Javier and Dia technically sold more copies (145,000 and 137,000), Cassadee’s win came earlier in the game and had a bigger impact. We can’t even imagine how many singles will sell during the Season 3 finale!
