Jermaine Paul may have been crowned the Season 2 winner of The Voice, and now the talent competition is receiving some recognition of its own.

This morning, The Voice was nominated for a 2012 Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Reality Competition Program. No other music competition was nominated in the category, including The Voice’s ratings competitors American Idol and The X-Factor.

So the show that Simon Cowell mocked for being a copy of his talent programs seems to have won out today. We wonder what Mr. Cowell has to say now …

After last season’s impressive crop of talent, strong chemistry between judges and a scene-stealing white Persian cat, we can’t say we’re surprised.

Also nominated in this category are the shows The Amazing Race, Dancing With the Stars, Project Runway, So You Think You Can Dance, and Top Chef.

We hope that our show’s new and fresh take on the music competition genre will be enough for it to beat out these more seasoned shows.

Catch the 2012 Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 23 in a live show hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on ABC.

Do you think The Voice should win this year’s Emmy?
