The Voice

The Voice’s Blind Auditions continued last night, and the judges’ rosters are swiftly filling with talented folk.

As of Round 3, Team Christina, Team Blake, and Team Cee Lo all have six members. Meanwhile, Team Adam is leading the pack with seven — but quantity doesn’t necessarily mean quality. With Blind Auditions only halfway finished, will he regret taking on so many contestants so early in the game? Whose team has packed the most talent so far?

CHRISTINA AGUILERA

Team: Chris Mann, Jesse Campbell, Lindsey Pavao, THE LiNE, Geoff McBride, Moses Stone

Geoff McBride sang the you-know-what out of “Higher Ground” last night, but we’re having a hard time hearing his voice apply to modern hits. Sure, he can do a mean Stevie Wonder, but will Christina be able to help him conceptualize a sound that will appeal to crowds in 2012?

That said, though we didn’t see much of Moses Stone, his performance of “Let’s Get It Started” looked pretty flawless. Not to mention Chris Mann is still one of the strongest voices on the show, and Xtina's got crowd-pleaser Lindsey Pavao on her side.

Christina is looking solid.

BLAKE SHELTON

Ranking: 2

Team: RaeLynn, Jermaine Paul, Gwen Sebastian, Erin Willett, Brian Fuente, Jordis Unga

Blake scored a big win for his team last night when he captured viewer favorite Jordis Unga, who closed the show with Wings' classic “Maybe I’m Amazed.” 

Though we don’t know much about Brian Fuente (he was one of the unfortunate contestants who got the montage treatment), we like that Blake is challenging himself with a rocker, who, presumably, doesn’t have a hint of country twang in his voice. 

Altogether, it looks like Team Blake is shaping up with some nice variety.

ADAM LEVINE

Ranking: 3
Last week: 1
Team: Tony Lucca, Kim Yarbough, Angel Taylor, Pip, Chris Cauley, Katrina Parker, Nathan Perrett

Adam got down to business last night and took on four very different singers. We think suspender-wearing 17-year-old Pip is going to be a great investment, and apparently so did every other judge, as they all spun their chairs by the end of “House of the Rising Sun.” 

Katrina Parker and Nathan were alright, but whether they can measure up to the talent on stage this year remains to be seen.

CEE LO GREEN

Team: Juliet Simms, Jamar Rogers, Angie Johnson, Sarah Golden, James Massone, Erin Martin

The jury is still out on Erin Martin, the girl who put the unique (read: bizarre) spin on “Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T’s. She could be a strong player, but her voice might prove too affected to appeal to a major audience. 

Sarah Golden and James Massone are both fair competitors, but they’re going to need a lot of work if they want to compete with some of the more standout contestants this year.
