Move over, Simon Cowell! The Voice creator John De Mol is about to dominate the reality music scene with a new, family-friendly, game-show style competition called The Winner Is, set to air on NBC.

According to Deadline, The Winner Is will combine vocal and bargaining abilities, leaving the winner $1 million richer. Like The X Factor, the competition is open to all age groups, and like The Voice, there will be battle rounds. But here's where it gets a bit more interesting …

After the contestants duel each other in a singing round, they'll have the opportunity to test their haggling skills should they choose strike a deal with the judges. If they're concerned about their fate, they can take the cash they've already acquired and run, or they can stick it out and see if they've made it to the next round.

A total of eight singers will be left standing in the finale. They will battle it out until two remain, and then both singers will have the chance to walk away and pocket $100,000 — or they can take a 50/50 chance and see what the judges and viewers decided.

An official air date has not been set, but Deadline says to expect the premiere sometime during mid-season or next summer.

What do you think of this new concept? Too complicated, or is it exactly what we need after years of the same old thing?
