The Voice Season 2 Battle Round 3 Music Wish List: Songs We’d Love to Hear
Finally, it’s Monday again, and tonight is the third set of battle rounds on The Voice Season 2! We already know who will be paired together, but what should they sing?
Check out our list below and offer suggestions in the comments!
Team Adam
Angel Taylor vs. Katrina Parker
“Mercy” by Duffy
Both Angel and Katrina belted slow, mournful ballads in their blind auditions. Their complimentary vocal tones make Adam’s decision to pair them up a good one, and if they sang “Mercy” by Duffy, the pairing would be complete.
This song requires rich vocal quality, a distinctive sound, and a high-energy performance. After their slower songs during the blind auditions, we’re ready to see them break it down on stage!
Pip vs. Nathan Parrett
“Suspicious Minds” by Elvis
Though we already know they’ll be singing “You Know I’m No Good” by Amy Winehouse (a great choice, by the way), but we’d love to see them put a new spin on an old song. This song is so well-known that these contestants could have had the opportunity to create a whole new rendition all their own.
Team Blake
ALyX vs. Jermaine Paul
“I Want It That Way” by The Backstreet Boys
Both of these contestants chose to sing pop hits for their blind auditions. Jermaine chose Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated,” and ALyX sang P!nk’s “Just Like a Pill.”
Though this Backstreet Boys song is originally sung solely by men, it could definitely work as a powerful duet. We’d like to see the version the show would come up with.
Gwen Sebastian vs. Erin Willett
“Landslide” by Stevie Knicks
These two powerhouse singers are already singing “We Belong” by Pat Benatar, but we think they could also sing a beautiful rendition of “Landslide.”
We know it’s been covered to death (The Dixie Chicks, Javier Colon last season, on the X-Factor, and Glee), but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be a great one for the battle rounds!
Team Cee Lo
The Shields Brothers vs. Erin Martin
“I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness
What happens when you pair a duo of rockers and an eerily soulful former model who describes herself as an “Egyptian warrior princess”? Awesomeness ensues.
This battle would really kick ass if the Team Cee Lo contestants sang “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness. It’s energetic enough that The Shields Brothers could jam out, but there are enough high notes for Erin to shine on as well.
Team Christina
Jonathas vs. Ashley De La Rosa
“My Boo” by Usher and Alicia Keys
Jonathas was considered Usher’s vocal twin after he sang “U Got It Bad” during his blind audition. Though Ashley De La Rosa didn’t get an extended spot when the show aired, she still has a powerful sound and a romantic duet would be perfect.
Why not stick with what we know works?
