This week marked the final set of battle rounds on The Voice Season 2. Christina Aguilera is back on top and Cee Lo Green finally made it out of the rankings basement in a lackluster episode.

Team:
Lee Koch, Sera Hill, Chris Mann, Jesse Campbell, Lindsey Pavao,THE LiNE, Geoff McBride, Moses Stone, Anthony Evans, Ashley De La Rosa, Jonathas,Monique Benabou

Though Christina’s pairing of Moses Stone and The LiNE was unorthodox, she proved that it is possible to combine two genres without a horrific result. While there have been complaints about Moses’s lack of vocal ability, we see a potential in his voice just like Xtina.

Going into the live shows, Christina has one of the strongest teams that has scored half of our “Best Performance of the Night” awards over the four weeks of battle rounds.

CEE LO GREEN

Team: The Shields Brothers, Cheesa, WADE, Juliet Simms, Jamar Rogers,Angie Johnson, Sarah Golden, James Massone, Erin Martin, Jamie Lono,Justin Hopkins, Tony Vincent

There’s no need to cry, Cee Lo! You’re out of the last spot on Wetpaint Entertainment’s power rankings! Instead of pairing two drastically different contestants together, Cee Lo decided to play it safe this week (and we appreciate it). He paired R&B singer, James Massone, with motown performer, WADE.

The twist? (Because on Team Cee Lo there always must be a twist.) They had to sing a Cyndi Lauper song. Though the performance was nothing to write home about, there’s something special about James’s voice that just makes us want to give him a hug … and a new jacket.

Cee Lo’s second pairing seemed unfair at first. Putting Broadway rocker, Tony Vincent, with house band performer, Justin Hopkins, made us nervous the battle would be a bloodbath. But Justin held his own, and we were sad to see him go, but understanding of Cee Lo’s decision.

ADAM LEVINE

Team:
Whitney Myer, Orlando Napier, Tony Lucca, Kim Yarbrough,Angel Taylor, Pip, Chris Cauley,Katrina Parker, Nathan Perrett, Karla Davis,Mathai, Nicolle Galyon

The performances from Team Adam were weak last night, but it’s his fairness that keeps him out of the bottom spot this week. Though we’re a bit sick of young, attractive girls with strange sounding voices, Mathai definitely deserved to beat Nicolle Galyon in their performance of “Love Song.”

And even though blues singer Orlando Napier received more airtime during the blind auditions than competitor Karla Davis, Adam was right to choose the latter. But the performances themselves were some of the worst we’ve seen on this show thus far.

BLAKE SHELTON

Ranking:
4
Last week:

Team:
Lex Land, Adley Stump, RaeLynn, Jermaine Paul, Gwen Sebastian,Erin Willett, Brian Fuente, Jordis Unga, ALyX, Charlotte Sometimes,Jordan Rager, Naia Kete

After a few weeks of decent decision-making, Blake Shelton went back to his old ways when he selected country singer Jordan Rager and reggae street performer Naia Kete to battle. The pairing alone wasn’t unfair, but forcing the Georgia boy to sing a Jason Mraz song was ridiculous.

If you’re going to pair to different singers together, Blake, at least pick a song that’s outside both of their comfort zones.

The performance was painful to watch, not just because Jordan struggled, but also because Naia couldn’t even seem to master a song in her own genre.
