On Tuesday’s episode of The Voice Season 3 blind auditions, pop punk singer Cassadee Pope blew all four coaches away with her practically flawless rendition of Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn.”

But that wasn’t the first time we’d heard the emotion-fueled tune on The Voice stage. Last season’s runner up, Juliet Simms, sang “Torn” in her last chance performance against pop singer Cheesa.

And from the looks of things, the song has produced some great results for rockin’ females on the show. But their song selection isn’t the only thing that connects these two contestants.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Cassadee yesterday and asked the singer about her connection to Juliet.

“We actually did the Vans Warped Tour of 2010 together,” Cassadee revealed. “I moved to L.A. last October, so I’d seen her on the show and we kept in touch. She definitely gave me a little more courage to feel like I was making the right decision. Because another frontwoman of a band did so well so it made me feel like I’ve had a shot. She’s been really encouraging. She’s been awesome.”

But Juliet isn’t the only one giving Cassadee support this season. Though the Hey Monday lead singer’s decision to join Team Blake may have seemed strange to audiences, she claims she always wanted to have the country singer as a mentor.

“I went into it wanting Blake [because of] the way I’ve seen him with his past artists,” she said. “I felt like he was the right choice for me. He kinda lets everyone do their own thing and gives us the freedom we need. I already know what kind of artist I want to be and what music I want to do, so I’m happy I went with someone who’s going to sit back and let me do my own thing.”

And though she’s already built a sizeable fan base through her time with Hey Monday, Cassadee doesn’t think that will give her an unfair advantage.

“Compared to the actual audience that watches The Voice, my fan base is not even 10 percent of that number,” she said. “I feel great about it and I feel lucky to have them, but I also know that it’s a very small amount compared to the big picture.”
