The Voice has been America’s top music competition since 2011, but thus far, it’s struggled to produce a radio hit or a stand-out star. The first two winners, Javier Colon and Jermaine Paul, failed to release a hit single or album.

But things really turned around in Season 3. Not only was the talent level higher, but the show (and America) managed to crown an actual singer/songwriter the winner. Cassadee Pope from Team Blake won the competition and though she hasn’t produced any new music yet, she’s working on her own album.

And she’s not the only releasing new music. Contestants who didn’t even make it to the finals are coming out of the woodwork with new singles.

Thus far, Season 3 runner up Terry McDermott has been the most successful with his new single “Pictures,” which skyrocketed to No. 1 on the iTunes rock charts in less than a week.

Team Christina’s Devyn DeLoera also released a new pop-focused tune, “Paralyzed,” and Team Cee Lo’s MacKenzie Bourg recently released his single  “Everyone’s Got a Story,” which hit No. 52 on iTunes. Fan-favorite De'Borah from Team Xtina is set to release her new single, "Coming Out, Looking Good," on Liquid Spin on March 12.

These are artists who are clearly driven and using their exposure and time on The Voice to further their careers. And that’s the most we can ask for from contestants on our favorite music competition.
