Last night, former Alicia Keys backup singer Jermaine Paul got the surprise of his life when he took the title of The Voice.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with the 33-year-old singer after the finale, and he couldn't stop gushing about his faith, family, and most importantly, his fans.

"I feel blessed man. God is good. I don’t know man — America. America, man. America. Yeah, man," he beamed.

"I want to thank everybody for voting and staying up late and calling and sending out those votes online. It’s such an amazing feeling to know that you’re here not because of a coach or a producer, but you’re here because America said, 'Hey dude. You’re the guy.'"

When it was time for host Carson Daly to announce the results, Jermaine said he let go of his fears and accepted that everything happens for a reason.

"I went out and performed a great number with Pip and Jamar [Rogers] and James Massone, and I just left it at that," he explained, adding that his foundations — his wife, kids, and wedding ring — brought him a little extra luck.

Jermaine, who delivered a stirring rendition of "I Believe I Can Fly" for his final competition song, has more than his strong vocal performance to be proud of. Throughout the competition, he remained drama-free and stayed out of the so-called feud between Christina Aguilera and Tony Lucca that sparked an Internet frenzy.

"I don’t pay attention to any of that," he said. "Tony Lucca is an amazing artist. Christina is an amazing artist. Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine are both great coaches. They put so much hard work and effort into this whole process and I think at the end of the day, they really love each other."

When it comes to his coach, Blake Shelton, Jermaine has nothing but positive things to say. What initially started as a working partnership gradually evolved into a great friendship.

"The vibe definitely lightened up and he let out a little more of his personality, which of course allowed me to do the same, and we really forged a friendship and a coolness — like a coach and a player should," Jermaine said fondly.
