The Voice’s Adam Levine Starts 222 Records, Signs Glee’s Matthew Morrison
Adam Levine, front man for Maroon 5 and tattooed judge extraordinaire on NBC’s The Voice, has started his own label called 222 Records.
In a match we will file under “curious but OK,” the first official artist to sign on to 222 is Glee’s own Mr. Schuester, Matthew Morrison.
“This is a very exciting day for me as I'm starting work on my sophomore record with the incredible Adam Levine,” Morrison tweeted today, along with a link to a Billboard article about the deal.
According to a press release out today, Matthew’s second album — the first, self-titled Matthew Morrison, was released last year under Mercury to less-than-steller reviews — will drop this spring.
“Starting my own label has been a long time goal of mine and I am thrilled to be at the point in my career where it is finally happening,” says Adam. “I am excited for everyone to hear Matthew’s forthcoming album. Great things are in store for him with this release.”
We hope so! We also wonder what Simon Cowell has to say about this, given that he’s been spouting off about how The Voice judges “haven’t made hit records.” Looks like Adam is hoping to change that!
