Shakira may be an international superstar, but that might actually be a more easily achievable feat than breaking into The Voice's boys' club.

After former mentor Christina Aguilera's departure, Shakira was tapped to fill the vacant mentor swivel chair and while her credentials more than validate her for the job, that doesn't necessarily mean that the other mentors (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Usher Raymond) have accepted her with open arms.

"They complain that I play the lady card, but it's not a gimmick — I am a lady!" admits the Colombian-born superstar.

She jokingly added, "I'm not getting any advice from those guys!"

In a preview clip of the season, we see Blake refer to Shakira's mentorship as an "experiment" to which Shakira quickly fires back, "Never underestimate a 5-foot-3 Colombian girl."

But despite the mentors feelings on Shakira and the competition she will bring to them, The Voice host Carson Daly speaks glowingly about her.

"I think your spring girl crush is Shakira — a lot of people don't know a lot about her and how good she is," Carson gushed. "I think America is really going to fall in love with her when the show is on the air."
