After last night’s elimination round on The Voice Season 3, the contestants were narrowed down to a slim dozen. And although most contestants are looking forward to the next grueling week of live rounds, one singer reminisced about his stressful blind audition!

When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Team Blake’s Scottish rocker Terry McDermott on the red carpet after the show, he revealed his mindset about this stage of the competition in comparison to his first performance on the Voice stage.

“I don’t think anything will beat the nervousness of the blind auditions,” he revealed. “That actually caught me by surprise because I’ve done a lot of touring, and I’ve played a lot of big gigs in weird situations, but I was very surprised at how much and how nervous I got on that one. I didn’t quite expect that.”

Because of his previous touring, Terry preferred seeing the audience and the judges in the battle and knockout rounds instead of the backs of chairs.

“I actually like seeing the audience staring at me. That’s more what I’m used to,” he spilled. “Playing to four chairs that had their backs turned to you, that was probably a bit weirder and a lot more nerve-wracking. I was like, ‘Come on, I’m right here. Come have a look!’”

Now that he is front and center on stage, with all of the coaches’ and America’s eyes and ears trained on him, he plans to step up his game — especially after re-watching some of his performances.

“I like to go back and listen to the notes and listen to the delivery and work out if I’ve got things to work on,” he admitted. “And after watching my last performance, I know I’ve got a lot to work on.”

Do you think Terry will make it far in the competition? Weigh in below.
